Ţie de ce ţi-e teamă să călătoreşti?

Azi vreau să lămurim o treabă.

Mi-e frică să plec singură într-o călătorie?!

Nu mă tem să intru în vorbă cu străinii?!

Da. Clar.

Nu pentru ce mi s-ar putea întampla, ci pentru eventualele consecinţe.

Nu prea ţin eu la legăturile de sânge sau la cele realizate prin căsătorie. Nu cred că dacă cineva mi-e rudă, gata, ce mult ţinem unul la celălălt. Nici pe departe. Pot să număr pe degetele de la o mână oamenii care-mi sunt mereu în gând când plec în lumea largă. Dar ăsta e cazul meu. Poate nu e şi al tău.

Mama nici nu ştiu ce s-ar face fără mine. Cum ar fi să primească un telefon în noapte că am dispărut sau că sunt la spitalul X, sau mai rău?

Am doi bunici ce m-au crescut. Dacă rămân ei pe lume şi nu apucă să mă vadă păşind spre altar, apoi nu reuşesc să-şi vadă strănepotul/strănepoata? La urma urmei, în generaţia lor, în asta consta viaţa. Se bucură pentru mine, dar nu înteleg ei de ce îmi trebuie mie să descopăr toată lumea, să am o carieră şi mai apoi o familie.

Iar pentru ăsta pe care-l iubesc, mi-e teamă că nu apuc să trăiesc cu el tot ce visez deja!

Călătoritul meu e riscant şi totuşi nu sunt cu motorul pe drumuri dificile sau cu barca pe mare, dar cu siguranţă aceleaşi griji le au ai lor părinţi, şi cu aceleaşi temeri pornesc ei la drum.

Orice ţi se poate întâmpla oriunde. Ăsta nu-i un motiv să nu ieşi din zona de confort, e o scuză!

Nu-i curaj, e o alegere.

O alegere ce merită făcută! Creşti, înveţi, descoperi, laşi o parte din tine în locuri şi cu oameni pe care poate nu-i mai vezi şi totodată, păstrezi cu tine frânturi din caracterul lor.

Mi-e teamă pentru viaţa mea. Dacă mi se întâmplă ceva şi pierd tot, dar dacă pierd tot din teama de a risca pentru ceea ce vreau cu adevărat?

Câteva rânduri pentru călătorii ca şi mine, dar acum, în special, pentru studenţii cu Work/Travel în SUA. Urmează perioada de răsplată pentru cele trei luni de muncă, bucuraţi-vă de ea! Vizitaţi cât mai mult! E o experienţă ce iţi schimbă viaţa, lucru pe care majoritatea îl înteleg după ce se întorc “acasă”, unde parcă nu mai e acasă.

Ok, lets get on the same page about something.

Am I afraid to travel alone? Aren’t I scared to just talk to strangers?

Yeah, of course.

Not for what might happen to me, but for the consequences of it.

I’m not too fond of relatives, blood ties or the ones resulting from a marriage. It’s not like we’re relatives and I care about you out of the blue. Not nearly. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people I carry forever in my heart. But that’s me, might not be you.

I don’t even want to think about what my mom would do without me. What if she gets a phone call in the middle of the night saying I got kidnapped or I’m in the hospital, or worse?

I have two grandparents who raised me. What if they stay in this world and don’t get to see me walking up the aisle, nor to see a grand grandson/ granddaughter? After all, in their time, that’s what life was about. They’re happy for me, but they don’t get it, what I love that much about seeing the world, or having a career first and then a family.

And about the one I love, what if I don’t get to live with him everything I already imagined?

Can you see all the “what if’s”?

Anything can happen anywhere.

This is not a reason to stay in your comfort zone, it’s just an excuse to not step out of it.

It’s not bravery, it’s a choice.

A choice worth making! You grow, you learn, you discover, you leave a part of you in places, with people you might never see again, but at the same time, you get back pieces of their soul.

A few lines for travelers like me, but now, specially for the Work&Travel students in the USA. It’s coming up next the travel period, the pay off for all the hard work you did during the summer. Enjoy it! Go everywhere! It’s a life-changing experience, but, most of you, will see it by the time they get back home, where it doesn’t feel like home anymore.
